Task Description

Your task is to laser cut and engrave a three-dimensional die. You are free to choose any material you like to complete the project, as long as it is safe to use in the laser cutter. However, the dimensions of the final die should not exceed 35m x 35mm x 35mm.

Mandatory Part

Create an image in a vector graphics format which is a 2D representation of your die. The final image should consist of only two types of element:

The image can be created using your preferred graphics application and should be used by your laser cutter to make the cuts and engravings on the material of your choice.

You will likely need to test multiple versions of your project before arriving at your final result and these should be made using offcut materials where possible, whereas your final assembly should be made using fresh material.

As well as submitting the die itself, you should also show your vector image file as part of this process and explain how it was created.

Unless you are taking part in a mini-Makerthon, you must also document your project on the submissions page and upload the vector image file as part of this process.

Safety

Before beginning this project you must have received a practical tutorial on how to use the laser cutter by a FabLab manager or admin. The key safety points are as follows:
